"Here to Serve." This has been the motto of Evangel Assembly since it began meeting in Wilbraham in January of 1996. Our mission is for the church to be a place that provides a way for people to serve God through worship, serve one another in meaningful relationships, and serve our community and world through acts of love and compassion.
We desire to help people serve God through worship by providing meaningful ways to connect with God on a weekly basis. Jesus said the great commandment is to "love God". We want to enable people to grow in their love of God, and their expression of love to God. We assist in this by providing biblical teaching and culturally relevant worship expressions each Sunday. We also offer a variety of special themed services throughout the year (i.e. Good Friday, Christmas Eve, etc.).
We believe in relationships at Evangel. We believe when we are in relationship and community with others, we best serve God and grow in our individual God given purpose. Therefore, we strive to create a positive environment in which we provide opportunities for people to connect and support each other in their life and faith journey. This happens through a relational focus in how we approach church ministry, offer LifeGroups, and provide fun social activities for all ages.
Serving Our World
We believe people will know God's love when they see our practical love for them. We provide opportunities for people to serve others. Here are few examples. Through partnership with Wings of Love, Inc, we assist in collecting new stuffed animals for emergency responders to give to kids in crisis. Through our food pantry, we provide food to over 1,000 people per year. Through Kids Hope USA, we help run mentoring programs for at risk kids in the community. Through missions, we have built fresh water wells in Africa and South America. Through SHINE (Stop Human Trafficking in New England), we sponsor events to raise awareness and fight against human trafficking. We strive to show people God's love as they see Him in our acts of compassion.
