KIDS HOPE USA programs create one-on-one mentoring relationships between adult church members, willing to give a little time and a lot of love, and at-risk elementary schoolchildren in their community who desperately need loving, caring adults in their lives.
One simple thing will make a big difference in the life of an at-risk child: One-on-one, positive attention from a responsible, caring adult.
Evangel partners with Brunton School in Springfield, MA to provide mentors to at-risk children. As a mentor, you spend one hour per week with one child. You work with that same child through the school year. The relationship involves reading, talking, playing and listening to the child at school. By helping that child feel loved and valued, they help that child to learn, grow and succeed.
A mentor must be able to do four things: Say a child's name. Be Faithful. Be there only for one child. Believe in a child.
To become a KIDS HOPE USA mentor, you must complete the training course we offer.
